Brief Bio

Hi, I’m Álvaro Alexander Avelar. The fruit of both Belgium and El Salvador – hence the beautiful tongue twister of a name.

Fascinated by the all-too-human side of the supposedly objective empirical sciences and the economy of scientific thought, I earned my MA in Philosophy of Science and Logic in 2014. After graduating, I aspired to obtain a PhD in Philosophy of Science, as I was hooked on exploring the scientific enterprise as an anthropological phenomenon.

Inspired by figures such as Penrose and Feyerabend, I wanted to look through the looking glass of the contemporary scientific machine and see it as it is: faulty, petty, yet beautiful and gripping. Life happened and I left academia.

“What’s next?” I asked myself. In a way, tech is the essence of humanity. From the first firestone to AI-powered agents, technology has been glorified by many, feared by perhaps even more.

This blog stands at the intersection of tech and philosophy: a space for critical reflection, playful exploration, and—why not—the occasional technical deep dive.

Feel free to reach out by filling in the form below if you have questions, feedback, or if you’d like to collaborate. I’m currently open to new opportunities.
